And now a tour around the neighborhood.

Many people ask me what Odessa is like or what it's near. I tell them it's a stinking desert and it's not near anything. Here's some pictures so you can see for yourself.

This is our house.

This is the big cactus in front of our house. It is surrounded by several smaller cacti.

People think because we live in a big house that we must be rich. So, they used to steal out mail. We got a cousin to build this nifty mailbox for us and now it's not a problem.

This is what a Mesquete bush looks like before you burn it to flavor your barbeque. These things are all over our land.

Thought you might like a new blog we're kicking off: Seven Deadly Cynics. Let us know what you think, and go Permian.

What, no pictures of tumbleweeds or pumpjacks? What about the world's largest jackrabbit, or the "jackshack"?

Shame you can't photograph smells, the town really does reek. Crude oil, don't ya know.

No, that house was much smaller. There isn't really a block per se. Many of the nearby houses are trailers.

Delano, these are just pictures from the front yard. I'll jet pumpjacks and such later.
